The Dominican Republic is pursuing legal action to extradite Jhovanny de Jesús Metz Cruz, also known as ‘Macho’, from Jamaica. Metz Cruz is identified as the alleged primary aggressor in an April incident at the Santiago Palace of Justice parking lot that resulted in the death of driver Deivy Carlos Abreu Quezada.

Authorities report that the victim was pursued and attacked by a group of motorcyclists. While Metz Cruz is the main suspect, seven other men are currently in preventive detention for their alleged involvement. Preliminary police reports suggest Metz Cruz traveled to Jamaica via maritime routes using a false identity. 

The Dominican Republic’s Public Ministry, through the Department of Legal Cooperation, is coordinating the extradition process. The timeline for the transfer remains dependent on Jamaican legal dynamics and whether the accused accepts the extradition.
