Authorities in the Dominican Republic have taken significant steps in extraditing fugitives to the United States. On August 12, David Armando Brito Brito, known as ‘El Jamaquen’, was extradited to face charges including drug trafficking, money laundering, and conspiracy. His transfer followed ‘Operation PT7’, a series of raids conducted in May.

On August 17, Dominican authorities arrested Ramón Martínez, also known as ‘El Negro Amante’, in Santo Domingo Oeste. Martínez is a Dominican citizen wanted for extradition to the United States to face charges in a Puerto Rico court for first-degree murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession and use of firearms. These operations were supported by the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) and the U.S. Marshals.
