In mid-September, authorities in Matayaya, Las Matas de Farfán, marked the 181st anniversary of the Battle of La Estrelleta, which occurred in 1845. The event involved the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Education, and local government officials who participated in flag-raising ceremonies and military honors to honor the battle's heroes. Later in the month, the Permanent Commission of Patriotic Anniversaries and other government bodies commemorated the 163rd anniversary of the Battle of Arroyo Bermejo, fought in 1863 during the Dominican Restoration War.
