A riot occurred at the Don Bosco prison in Pisa after inmates discovered what they believed to be surveillance devices, such as microphones and cameras, in their cells. The unrest was broadcast live on TikTok by a detainee to approximately 15,000 viewers. During the incident, roughly 50 to 56 inmates barricaded themselves in the second judicial section. While detainees claimed they were struck with batons by prison police, authorities reported that inmates used oil to hinder officers. The situation was brought under control following mediation, resulting in at least four arrests and significant property damage. Following the revolt, four inmates—three Albanian nationals and one Colombian national—were charged as organizers. One individual is specifically accused of the illegal use of a mobile phone to facilitate the TikTok live stream. Investigating judge Domenico Vatrano stated that participants engaged in “open acts of violence, threats, and resistance to law enforcement.” While the four accused organizers were transferred to other prisons in the Tuscany region for security reasons, authorities identified 16 other inmates involved in the disturbances. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Pisa prison revolt: Four inmates charged after TikTok live stream Four inmates, including three Albanians and one Colombian, face charges for organizing a violent prison revolt in Pisa, Italy, which was broadcast live on TikTok. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/pisa-prison-revolt-four-inmates-charged-after-tiktok-live-stream ### 2026-09-30: Don Bosco prison in Pisa experiences riot following TikTok live broadcast Inmates at Pisa's Don Bosco prison rioted after discovering alleged surveillance devices in their cells, broadcasting the unrest live on TikTok before the situation was resolved by authorities. 14 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/don-bosco-prison-in-pisa-experiences-inmate-riot --- Cite as: Don Bosco prison riot in Pisa.
