During a campaign event in Kansas, Donald Trump cited a prophecy from a Dallas pastor regarding his role in leading the country into a unique era of Christianity. Trump noted that while he might lack frequent Bible reading or specific biblical knowledge, he was a strong leader capable of bringing people to the “promised land.”

These remarks, which referenced support from Pastor Robert Jeffress, drew accusations of blasphemy from critics. The backlash followed the broadcast of his comments on C-SPAN, with some observers arguing the religious phrasing was inappropriate. The controversy occurs alongside reports of declining support for Trump among various Christian voter demographics, including white evangelical Protestants and Catholic voters.

At a subsequent Republican rally in Salina, Kansas, Trump revisited these themes. He referenced the 2015 prediction by Pastor Robert Jeffries, claiming to have fulfilled the vision of leading Christians into the “promised land.” During the same event, Trump compared the biblical knowledge of former presidents Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter, asserting that Reagan was a superior president despite not knowing the Bible as well as Carter.
