Dong Thap province is undertaking several large scale infrastructure and environmental protection initiatives. To address riverbank erosion, the province has allocated approximately 330 billion VND to manage 137 erosion points recorded since the start of 2026. These sites, covering roughly 17.1 km, threaten residential areas and essential transportation networks, such as district road 64C in Hiep Duc commune.

In addition to erosion mitigation, the Dong Thap People's Committee has approved an investment policy to expand National Highway 30. This project, estimated to cost over 1.455 trillion VND, involves upgrading approximately 25.88 km of road to a Class 3 delta standard. The expansion aims to improve connectivity between the Tien Giang region and Cao Lanh, supporting logistics, agriculture, and long term socio-economic development.
