The Doraemon animation franchise is expanding its theatrical presence through new film releases and international distribution.

In India, the film ‘Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil’ is scheduled for a nationwide release on October 2, 2026. Distributed by PVR INOX Pictures and presented by TV Asahi, the film is available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Following its release, the film has experienced a breakout theatrical performance. It earned Rs 2.90 crore on its opening day and approximately Rs 2.60 crore on its second day, bringing its two-day gross total to Rs 5.50 crore. This performance significantly exceeds previous franchise entries in India, which typically grossed around Rs 5 crore during their entire theatrical runs. Projections suggest the opening weekend could reach between Rs 8 crore and Rs 9 crore.

A comprehensive 360-degree marketing campaign is being managed by Black White Orange (BWO) with strategic consulting from Happening 365 Synergies. To celebrate the connection between India and Japan, a special tie-in episode titled ‘Namaste! Nobita, Studying Abroad in India’ is scheduled to air on TV Asahi on November 7, 2026.

Expanding its reach to Europe, the 45th installment, ‘Doraemon and the Underwater Castle’, directed by Tetsuo Yajima, is set to debut in French cinemas on October 7, 2026. Looking further ahead, the 46th installment, ‘Doraemon Movie: Nobita's Steam Time Train’, is slated for release on March 5, 2027.
