Local officials highlighted the river's role within the Mura-Drava Regional Park and the UNESCO Mura-Drava-Danube transboundary biosphere reserve. Discussions emphasized balancing biodiversity preservation with sustainable development through recreation and education, while acknowledging environmental challenges such as flooding.
