Developments: 2. Telecommunications provider du has expanded its 5G-Advanced standalone network capabilities in the United Arab Emirates through successive technological deployments. In September 2026, du, in collaboration with Nokia, deployed six-carrier aggregation on its commercial network. This implementation combined 420MHz of spectrum across various FDD and TDD bands to increase network capacity and data rates for AI-powered features and next-generation applications. Saleem AlBlooshi, du’s chief technology officer, noted that the deployment aims to maximize spectrum use and support the transition toward 6G. By October 2026, du expanded its connectivity by launching commercial services using the upper-6GHz spectrum. This deployment utilizes 350 MHz of contiguous spectrum within the 6775–7125 MHz band. Unlike previous laboratory tests, this service provides end-to-end connections to commercially available Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) for home and business use. The expansion focuses on enhancing mobile broadband, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), and cloud-based AI applications, while acknowledging potential challenges regarding indoor penetration due to the higher frequency. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-13: du launches commercial upper-6GHz connectivity in the UAE UAE telecom provider du has launched commercial upper-6GHz connectivity on its 5G+ network, connecting directly to customer routers to expand capacity for broadband and AI applications. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/du-launches-commercial-upper-6ghz-connectivity-in-the-uae ### 2026-09-18: du deploys six-carrier aggregation on UAE 5G-Advanced network du has deployed the world’s first six-carrier aggregation on its commercial 5G-Advanced network in the UAE, using Nokia equipment to increase capacity and prepare for the 6G era. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/du-deploys-six-carrier-aggregation-on-uae-5g-advanced-network --- Cite as: du 5G-Advanced network expansion in UAE.
