Sources: 12. Developments: 2. Dubai has introduced new technological infrastructure to support smart mobility and driver assessment. The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) inaugurated the Dubai Mobility Labs at Dubai Silicon Oasis. This facility serves as a testing and certification ecosystem for autonomous and future mobility technologies, featuring 248 scenarios to evaluate vehicle sensing and decision-making. The project is part of a strategy to achieve 25 per cent autonomous mobility journeys by 2030. Following the establishment of testing facilities, the RTA launched an upgraded Smart Test System (STS) for light-vehicle yard tests. This system utilizes artificial intelligence, computer vision, and Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning to monitor learner performance with high precision. The technology uses smart cameras and facial recognition to verify identities and monitor driving behaviors, such as mirror checks and steering wheel positioning, providing learners with interactive 3D maps to review their performance. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-29: Dubai RTA launches AI-powered smart driving test system Dubai's RTA has introduced an AI-powered Smart Test System for driving yard tests, using 3D mapping and computer vision to provide learners with precise visual feedback on their mistakes. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/dubai-rta-launches-ai-powered-smart-driving-test-system ### 2026-09-27: Dubai Mobility Labs opens for autonomous vehicle testing Dubai has opened the Dubai Mobility Labs at Dubai Silicon Oasis, a new facility for testing and certifying autonomous vehicles through 248 scenarios to support the emirate's 2030 self-driving transport goals. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/dubai-opens-new-autonomous-vehicle-testing-facility --- Cite as: Dubai smart mobility and transport technology development.
