The Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) noted this increase is more than double the price seen prior to the conflict involving Iran. These wholesale fluctuations are impacting consumer costs, with providers such as Vattenfall, Gewoon Energie, Innova Energie, and Engie implementing rate hikes or extending contract terms. Because much electricity is generated in gas-fired power plants, wholesale electricity prices for 2027 are already more than 60 percent higher than pre-conflict levels.
