Football analysts and journalists have raised concerns regarding the performance and positioning of several Dutch players. Journalist Valentijn Driessen suggested the Netherlands national team should utilize Ian Maatsen at left-back instead of Micky van de Ven following a 2-2 draw against Greece. Van de Ven’s recent form has also drawn attention amid transfer interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.

In the Eredivisie, analyst Mario Been criticized Ajax midfielder Jorthy Mokio for being “somewhat lazy” during a match against NEC, a lapse that contributed to a conceded penalty. Been also challenged the Dutch national team’s selection process, arguing that Feyenoord’s Luciano Valente earned a call-up over Kenneth Taylor due to his strong seasonal impact.
