Dutch households saw an exceptional increase in investment value, rising by more than 12 percent in the second quarter of 2026. According to De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), this marks the strongest quarterly growth since tracking began in 2018, with total holdings in stocks, investment funds, and bonds reaching 234.2 billion euros by the end of June.

This surge was largely driven by rising stock prices, specifically fueled by enthusiasm for artificial intelligence and high demand for chip stocks. Major holdings included ASML at 6.1 billion euros, followed by Shell, Rabobank, ING, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Alphabet.

During the same period, the Dutch industrial sector reported an 8.4 percent increase in turnover, led by a 31.2 percent rise in the refinery and chemical industry, though the food and beverage industry saw a decline of 6.7 percent.
