Investigations into the theft of Jewish real estate and the role of local governments in wartime measures have been conducted across various Dutch municipalities.

In the Groningen province, research by the University of Groningen examined the theft of properties listed in the ‘Verkaufsbücher’ and the subsequent role of local governments in post-war legal restitution. While five municipalities in the province, including Eemsdelta and Pekela, have publicly addressed their findings, five others—Het Hogeland, Midden-Groningen, Oldambt, Veendam, and Westerkwartier—have reportedly withheld their substantive conclusions, failing to offer public recognition or apologies.

In Hillegom, an independent historical investigation by historian Maarten-Jan Vos has been completed. The study examined the municipality and police involvement in implementing anti-Jewish measures and the status of properties belonging to Bernard Daniël Rijnveld. The report confirmed that while two homes were sold during the war, the transactions were reversed for legal restitution. The findings also detailed how the municipal police participated in arrests and how the municipality provided personal data of Jewish citizens to German occupiers and the PTT.
