In Rijswijk, the Council of State approved the construction of up to 199 homes in the Havenkwartier district, dismissing objections to the De Havenmeester zoning plan. In Katwijk, local authorities proposed a plan to prioritize residents with social ties to the area for affordable new-build homes priced up to €400,000. In Utrecht, the Wisselspoor residential project, featuring 183 homes designed for young residents, has been completed. Concurrently, the municipality introduced the Stadseiland Zuid program, an exploratory plan to develop a new district containing approximately 10,000 homes. This proposal includes the potential partial covering of 750 meters of the A12 motorway and the possible closure of exit 17, a move that has prompted concerns regarding local accessibility and the relocation of industrial functions. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-25: Utrecht urban development: Wisselspoor housing and Stadseiland Zuid plans Utrecht is advancing urban redevelopment through the completion of the Wisselspoor 10 residential complex and the presentation of the Stadseiland Zuid plan, which proposes 10,000 new homes. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/utrecht-urban-development-wisselspoor-housing-and-stadseiland-zuid-plans ### 2026-10-06: Dutch housing developments: Rijswijk project approved and Katwijk local priority plan Dutch municipalities are addressing housing needs: Rijswijk receives approval for 199 new homes, while Katwijk proposes prioritizing local residents for affordable new-build properties. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/dutch-housing-developments-rijswijk-project-approved-and-katwijk-local-priority-plan --- Cite as: Dutch residential and urban development projects.
