Vietnamese footballer Đỗ Duy Mạnh, a center-back for Hanoi FC and the national team, traveled to the United States to undergo surgery for a meniscus injury. Accompanied by his wife, Nguyễn Quỳnh Anh, the player underwent medical examinations and imaging to assess the damage. 

Hanoi FC facilitated the trip to address the injury and protect his professional career. The recovery and rehabilitation process is expected to take between six months and one year. As a result, Duy Mạnh is expected to miss the first half of the 2026/27 V. League season and will be unavailable for the Vietnam national team during upcoming competitions, including the FIFA ASEAN Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers.

Đỗ Duy Mạnh has since successfully undergone a two-hour surgical procedure to repair a left knee meniscus injury. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) issued a statement offering encouragement to the player, describing him as a “national team pillar.” 

Following the surgery, Duy Mạnh expressed optimism on social media, noting that while the situation represents “another difficult period” in his career, he intends to overcome it through effort. Medical specialists now estimate he will require six to nine months of physical therapy and rehabilitation to return to peak competitive condition.
