East Devon is managing various administrative and community-led planning and conservation efforts. The East Devon District Council has considered reducing committee meeting frequencies to manage staff workloads and prepare for potential local government reorganization in Devon.

The council is also working toward a 2026 deadline for its Local Plan, addressing delays related to water cycles, transport, and air quality assessments.

At the community level, local planning initiatives are progressing. In Exminster, a public consultation has opened for a ten-year Neighbourhood Development Plan. In Woodbury, the East Devon District Council formally adopted a Parish Neighbourhood Plan following a referendum with a 90.9 per cent approval rate. Additionally, the East Devon Community Hedgerows Project has launched to support biodiversity through traditional hedge-laying training.
