The 81st anniversary of East Java Province is being commemorated on October 12, 2026, under the theme ‘East Java: Superior, Advanced, Sustainable’.

Preparations for the anniversary ceremony at Gedung Negara Grahadi in Surabaya included choir practices in traditional attire and the presence of Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Vice Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak. The provincial government offered 1,000 invitation slots to the public, with the first 500 slots being filled within 31 seconds of registration opening. Following the ceremony, the government planned to provide free traditional East Javanese culinary specialties to attendees.

This anniversary coincides with National Museum Day in Indonesia, a day established to promote the preservation of history and culture.
