Developments in Tamaulipas have focused on educational policy and the integration of academic training with economic sectors.

Administrative initiatives include the Secretary of Education (SET) allowing mobile phone use for pedagogical purposes and the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) offering free international certifications through a micro-credentialing program. Other regional activities involve professionalizing tourism services, engaging with search collectives for missing persons, and delivering educational employment appointments.

To bridge education and industry, the Industry Challenge 2026—organized by the Tamaulipas Ministry of Economy and the Tamaulipas Council of Science and Technology (COTACYT)—resulted in the implementation of student projects at Factory Source. These projects, including “Contador Inteligente de Producción,” “SmartMold Analytics,” and “Separador de Materiales Ferrosos y No Ferrosos,” were recognized during ExpoCiencias Tamaulipas 2026 with economic incentives.

Further economic efforts include the ‘Hecho en Tamaulipas’ program, managed by the Ministry of Economy to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Undersecretary Mariana Álvarez Quero noted that the initiative provides specialized training, business advisory services, and assistance with trademark registration and GS1 barcodes. The program also facilitates commercial networking through trade fairs and business meetings to help local producers expand market opportunities and strengthen product identity.
