In mid-October, the Directorate of Art and Culture opened pre-enrollment for the fourth generation of the Artistic Initiation School. This three-year program, associated with the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), offers specializations in music, dance, theater, and plastic and visual arts for students aged 14 to 19. By late October, the city celebrated the second anniversary of the Preparatoria UAT Nuevo Laredo. This facility, established through a partnership between the municipal government and the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT), serves over 430 students. Led by Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal and UAT Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, the collaboration has resulted in a cumulative investment exceeding 118 million pesos. As the region’s first self-sustainable high school, the facility features 12 classrooms, chemistry and computer laboratories, workshops, and a covered sports court. The infrastructure incorporates sustainable technologies, including solar panels and a wastewater treatment system. Additionally, the municipal government has funded complementary works, such as an 11-million-peso roof for the preparatory school and a 6-million-peso covered area for the UAT Faculty of Commerce, Administration, and Social Sciences. The administration also provides student support through excellence, sports, and cultural scholarships, as well as mobile internet access for university students. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-28: UAT Preparatoria Nuevo Laredo celebrates second anniversary The Preparatoria UAT Nuevo Laredo celebrated two years of operation, supported by over 118 million pesos in municipal and university investment for sustainable infrastructure and student services. 14 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nuevo-laredo-celebrates-second-anniversary-of-uat-preparatoria ### 2026-10-17: Nuevo Laredo opens enrollment for artistic initiation school Nuevo Laredo has opened pre-enrollment for the fourth generation of its Artistic Initiation School, offering a three-year program in arts, music, theater, or dance for youth aged 14 to 19. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nuevo-laredo-opens-enrollment-for-artistic-initiation-school --- Cite as: Educational initiatives in Nuevo Laredo.
