The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has engaged in multiple legal and investigative actions regarding financial crimes in Nigeria.

In Lagos, the EFCC arraigned Gideon Bakpa Aghogho and Oscar Ebere Chukwuebuka before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi. The defendants face an eight-count charge concerning the unlawful supply of access credentials to the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) database. Prosecutors allege the defendants conspired to supply access codes to the bank’s Virtual Center Platform and disclosed server IP and domain credentials in exchange for $15,000. While Chukwuebuka pleaded guilty, Aghogho pleaded not guilty.

In Enugu, the EFCC has launched an investigation into Raheem Abiodun Wasiu for an alleged $12,000 fraud targeting Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in South-East Nigeria. Wasiu allegedly used a method of posing as a wealthy contractor to collect United States dollars from operators before presenting fake Naira bank transfer alerts to simulate payment.
