Under the management of Mexican coach Efraín Juárez, Győri ETO has achieved significant success in the Hungarian League. Initially, the team held second place after eight matchdays with 15 points, trailing league leaders Puskas Academy on tie-breaking criteria.

Following recent developments, the club has moved to share the top of the standings with Puskás Akadémia. Juárez attributed this performance to a strong physical foundation and an aggressive playing style, noting that the team had to overcome early challenges including player injuries and bureaucratic difficulties.

Since taking over in July 2026 following his departure from Pumas UNAM, Juárez has managed 10 matches, recording 5 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses. This recent run has placed ETO FC in third place, trailing the leader, Puskás Akadémia FC, by a single point. The club also secured a 1-5 victory against Karcag in the Magyar Kupa.

While the club has seen domestic progress, it has faced difficulties in European competitions. After being eliminated from the Champions League preliminary round by Vikingur Reykjavik (2-3 on aggregate), the team found success in the UEFA Conference League preliminary rounds by defeating FC Atert Bissen 7-3 on aggregate. However, their European campaign ultimately ended following a 1-2 aggregate loss to Latvia’s Riga FC in the third qualifying round.
