The EHF Champions League group stage has commenced under a new format featuring 24 teams. In their opening match, Füchse Berlin defeated RK Partizan AdmiralBet 44-33 in Belgrade, led by Mathias Gidsel’s nine goals.

In their subsequent high-stakes matchup, Veszprém HC defeated Füchse Berlin 35-29, taking the lead in Group A. Despite Mathias Gidsel scoring ten goals and providing five assists, Berlin struggled with defensive lapses and missed opportunities. Veszprém goalkeeper Emil Nielsen played a decisive role with ten saves, while Hugo Descat and Ahmed Hesham contributed nine and seven goals, respectively.

Following the loss, Füchse Berlin coach Nicolej Krickau expressed deep disappointment regarding his team’s intensity and mental presence, particularly during the opening fifteen minutes. Although Berlin attempted a comeback in the second half, Veszprém maintained control to secure the win. The result shifts the standings in Group A, where both clubs are regarded as title contenders.
