El Salvador has introduced new regulations regarding the annual bonus, known as aguinaldo. Under updated Labor Code rules, the payment period now runs from October 1 to December 20. Labor Minister Rolando Castro announced that financial institutions are prohibited from making automatic deductions from these bonuses to cover debts. Furthermore, aguinaldos up to USD 1,500 are exempt from income tax, social security, and pension fund deductions.

In a separate fiscal development, the Legislative Assembly's Finance Commission approved a proposal for a special and transitory law to grant tax, customs, and traffic fine amnesty. This measure, intended to run until December 11, 2026, allows individuals and entities to regularize debts by paying the principal amount while being exempt from interests, surcharges, and penalties for obligations accumulated up to September 30. The amnesty also includes certain traffic fines and offers installment payment plans starting with a 10 percent initial payment.
