The El Salvador Legislative Assembly has completed the selection and swearing-in process for the National Council of the Judiciary (CNJ). 

Initially, the Political Commission conducted interview sessions to evaluate candidates proposed by the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Human Rights Ombudsman, and the General Procurator’s Office. Candidates discussed goals such as strengthening judicial performance evaluations through technical audits and modernizing training processes.

Following these interviews, 14 lawyers—comprising seven principal members and seven alternates—were sworn in for the 2026–2031 term. The council is tasked with ensuring the independence, efficiency, and transparency of the Judicial Branch and selecting candidates for judges and magistrates.
