Sevinç Baykan Özden, the President of the Balıkesir City Council, has been elected as the 18th Term President of the Union of City Councils of Türkiye. The election occurred during the union’s 17th Term Board of Directors meeting in Ankara.

During the proceedings, attendees discussed increasing cooperation between city councils and reviewed a draft protocol for collaboration with the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. The board also addressed a project intended for the Ministry of Interior to improve local participation. 

In addition to Özden’s election, Ahmet Kapanoğlu, President of the Eskişehir City Council, was elected as the 17th Term President. Necati Binici and Dr. Selim Çakar, President of the Tokat City Council, were appointed as Vice Presidents. The general assembly also finalized the election of the Executive Board and other administrative units for the upcoming term.
