In Rondonópolis, Colina Verde Square has been targeted by electrical wire thefts for the sixth time in less than two years. The most recent incident occurred on a Thursday morning, leaving the square without lighting and raising public safety concerns.

The Municipal Infrastructure Secretariat (Sinfra) reported that the theft necessitated extensive repairs, including the replacement of poles, distribution boards, and electrical circuits. The municipality has invested approximately R$ 40,000 in repairs for Colina Verde Square alone due to vandalism.

On a broader scale, Sinfra estimates that R$ 500,000 has been spent maintaining various public spaces affected by similar thefts and vandalism, including the Pinheirão mini stadium and Parque dos Escondidinho.
