In Nasarawa State, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reported that heavy rain and wind caused the collapse of three transmission towers (T78, T79, and T80) along the Karu-Keffi-Akwanga 132kV line. This incident tripped the transmission line and rendered 33kV feeders at the Keffi and Akwanga substations unavailable, disrupting electricity to the Keffi and Akwanga areas.

Broader power supply issues have also affected Enugu State, where irregular supply and high generator costs are impacting businesses such as welders and pub operators. MainPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MEDL) attributed the decline in Enugu’s supply to a drop in power generation, which prompted the TCN to implement load shedding.

In Nasarawa, the prolonged blackout resulting from the tower collapses has hindered socioeconomic activities, small businesses, and student studies. TCN engineers have been deployed to assess the damage and work toward restoration.
