# Electrification of the global mining industry > Live situation record from CLSTR: https://clstr.news/situations/electrification-of-the-global-mining-industry > Updated: 2026-09-30T22:49:03.000Z. Sources: 4. Developments: 2. The mining industry is undergoing a transition toward electrification through the deployment of heavy-duty electric vehicles and specialized infrastructure. In Ghana, the government is exploring the adoption of electric vehicle technology to reduce fuel costs and environmental impacts. This includes the planned use of 230-tonne capacity electric mining dump trucks at the Zijin Golden Ridge Mine. To support this, officials are considering establishing a training center to equip local mechanics with the expertise needed to maintain electric mobility systems independently. Concurrently, large-scale operational use of electric machinery is advancing in China, where a fleet of 75-ton TLE120 electric mining trucks has been deployed at the Wengfu phosphate mine. To facilitate this shift, new charging solutions have been introduced, such as IP65-rated chargers designed for extreme underground conditions. These decentralized, manufacturer-independent charging systems aim to minimize equipment travel and waiting times. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-30: Mining industry advances electrification with heavy electric trucks and new charging solutions Mining operations are scaling up electrification with the deployment of 75-ton electric trucks in China and new heavy-duty, manufacturer-independent charging solutions from Epiroc. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mining-industry-advances-electrification-with-heavy-electric-trucks-and-new-charging-solutions ### 2026-09-09: Ghana explores electric mining trucks and EV technician training Ghana is exploring the adoption of electric mining trucks and plans to establish a specialized training center to equip local mechanics for the transition to electric vehicle technology. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ghana-explores-electric-mining-trucks-and-ev-technician-training --- Cite as: Electrification of the global mining industry.
