Embodied AI companies are increasingly deploying humanoid and service robots within retail environments to perform complex tasks. 

In Shanghai, DQ and robotics firm Sharpa launched a pilot program using robots capable of executing 55 distinct steps to prepare ice cream, such as scooping ingredients and performing brand-specific tests. This implementation utilizes a “zero-modification” approach, allowing robots to use the same tools and workflows as human staff. 

Following these developments, the sector has seen further expansion. Lingyu Intelligence has secured significant Pre-A funding to deploy its TA series robots for shelf stocking and sample delivery in JD Seven Fresh supermarkets. Additionally, Galbot has opened the ‘Galbot Store’, the first fully autonomous robot retail store in Hong Kong, as part of a strategy to expand into high-traffic areas and utilize the region as a bridgehead for global markets.
