In Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the Fire Department received a new ambulance donated by One World Medics, addressing a six month period where the department had to rely on fire trucks for medical calls. The Puyallup Extrication Team also donated a 13,000 liter capacity water truck to support operations. In the Los Lagos Region of Chile, authorities have focused on improving rural and aeromedical transport. The municipality of San Juan de la Costa inaugurated a new basic emergency ambulance funded by the Los Lagos Regional Government to assist in areas with connectivity challenges. Subsequently, the Los Lagos Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Health authorized three new aircraft for Servicios Aéreos Puerto Montt. This expansion, including two Piper PA-31 Navajo planes and one Beechcraft King Air E90, increases the company’s certified aeromedical fleet to four aircraft to improve patient transfers from isolated areas. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-30: Los Lagos Health Authority authorizes new air ambulances The Los Lagos Health Secretariat authorized three new aircraft for Servicios Aéreos Puerto Montt to strengthen aeromedical evacuations for critical patients in southern Chile. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/los-lagos-health-authority-authorizes-new-air-ambulances ### 2026-10-24: New ambulances deployed in Cabo San Lucas and San Juan de la Costa New ambulances have been introduced in Cabo San Lucas, donated by One World Medics, and in San Juan de la Costa, funded by the Los Lagos Regional Government, to improve emergency medical response. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/new-ambulances-deployed-in-cabo-san-lucas-and-san-juan-de-la-costa --- Cite as: Emergency medical service expansions in Mexico and Chile.
