Institutions in Brazil and Portugal are implementing training programs to improve emergency response capabilities for cardiac arrest, choking, and other medical emergencies.

In Brazil, the University of Marília installed a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and trained security and staff to recognize cardiac arrest and operate the device. Similarly, in Itabuna, caregivers at social shelters received training from the 4th Military Firefighters Battalion to manage seizures and cardiac arrest, noting a heightened need due to the medical profiles of residents. Educational institutions, such as the Eugênia Scharlé Municipal School, have also organized workshops to prepare staff for handling fractures and choking.

In Portugal, the municipality of Castelo Branco expanded its public safety network by providing certified Basic Life Support and AED training to educators and municipal employees, adding 42 new trainees to the community response network.
