The Serie B matchup between Ascoli and Empoli at the Stadio Cino e Lillo Del Duca ended in a 1-1 draw.

Empoli took an early lead in the 14th minute when Ceesay scored with an ‘outside-of-the-foot lob’ following a defensive error by Curado and goalkeeper Vitale. Ascoli equalized in the 25th minute through Rizzo, who converted a volley assisted by Brunori following a corner kick.

Despite late pressure, including a shot by Gattoni that struck the crossbar, neither side could find a winning goal. Ascoli manager Francesco Tomei noted that while his team performed well, they lacked clinical finishing, stating, “we need to be more cynical.”

For Empoli, the draw provides relief and stabilization under new coach Matteo Andreoletti, following a string of three consecutive defeats, including a recent loss to Palermo. Andreoletti has been working to address defensive cohesion and emphasized the necessity for greater defensive compactness moving forward.
