The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and Energia announced a new competition structure for the Energia All-Ireland League for the 2026/27 season. The restructuring aims to increase competitiveness and promote sustainable travel. The women’s competition transitioned to a two-division format (Division 1A and 1B), while the men’s league replaced Divisions 2B and 2C with regionalized sections: Division 2BN (North) and Division 2BS (South).

Following the start of the season in late September 2026, the league progressed into Round 2. High-profile fixtures in Division 1A included a Dublin derby between St Mary’s College and Clontarf, as well as Old Wesley hosting Cork Constitution. In Division 1B, Naas competed against Nenagh Ormond. Recent match results included a 14-10 victory for BCRFC over Barnhall.
