Failure to meet these standards could result in fines of up to £30,000 per property. The scale of necessary renovations is significant, potentially affecting over 1,000 homes. 

Royal spokespersons have expressed a commitment to improving efficiency. The Duchy of Lancaster noted it has invested over £3 million in repairs to address historic building challenges, while the Duchy of Cornwall has spent £11 million on housing improvements since 2022.
