The English National Opera (ENO) announced a new production of Puccini’s Tosca, set to run at the London Coliseum from 30 October to 11 December 2026. Directed by Artistic Director Annilese Miskimmon, the staging moves the opera to a contemporary setting in a European state experiencing civil conflict and foreign aggression.

The production explores themes of political oppression, resistance, and resilience. It is scheduled as part of the ENO’s 2026/27 season, alongside Kaija Saariaho’s Adriana Mater. On 5 December 2026, the company will present a unique pairing of a Tosca matinee and an evening performance of Adriana Mater. The cast features soprano Axelle Fanyo, tenor Chaz’men Williams-Ali, and Christopher Purves and Craig Colclough sharing the role of Scarpia, with Ben Glassberg conducting.
