Developments: 5. Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has highlighted the achievements of his administration’s first term through a compendium titled ‘A Thousand and One Reasons Why Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Should be Re-elected as Governor of Enugu State’. The document details over 10,000 milestones, including the construction of 1,521 kilometres of roads, the development of 7,000 classrooms, and the establishment of 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres. Other initiatives mentioned include the launch of Enugu Air and the New Enugu Smart City project. To support these administrative goals, Governor Mbah approved the appointment of 101 new political aides and swore in 17 newly elected Local Government Area chairmen. He also reconstituted several boards, including the Civil Service Commission and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Board. Regarding economic strategy, Mbah noted that taxation currently accounts for less than 13 per cent of state revenue, signaling a focus on expanding the economy through projects like the 10,000-hectare New Enugu City, the Enugu Ranch tourism centre, and the Enugu International Hospital. As the 23rd National Sports Festival approaches in late 2026, the administration is prioritizing sports infrastructure. Governor Mbah recently inspected the Awgu Games Village, which is being transformed from an abandoned site into a standard venue featuring a 1,000-capacity hostel, an eight-lane athletics track, and a FIFA-standard pitch. The village is expected to be completed in less than two months. Simultaneously, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade, including new roofing, improved spectator seating, modernized player changing rooms, and electronic access-control systems to meet FIFA standards for the ‘Coal City Games’ scheduled for November 27 to December 11, 2026. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-05: Enugu State Governor inspects facilities for 2026 National Sports Festival Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah is overseeing major infrastructure upgrades, including the Awgu Games Village and Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, ahead of the 2026 National Sports Festival. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/enugu-state-governor-inspects-facilities-for-2026-national-sports-festival ### 2026-10-03: Enugu State Governor highlights economic and infrastructure development Governor Peter Mbah is driving economic growth in Enugu State through diverse revenue initiatives and major infrastructure projects, including New Enugu City and upgraded sports facilities for the 2026 National 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/enugu-state-governor-highlights-economic-and-infrastructure-development ### 2026-09-30: Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah inaugurates new officials and councils Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has sworn in 17 local government chairmen and inaugurated reconstituted state commissions and educational governing councils to drive economic growth. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/enugu-state-governor-peter-mbah-inaugurates-new-officials-and-councils ### 2026-09-21: Enugu Governor Peter Mbah appoints 101 new political aides Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has appointed 101 new aides, including Nollywood actresses Rachael Okonkwo and Eucharia Anunobi, to oversee various sectors in the state government. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/enugu-state-governor-peter-mbah-appoints-101-new-aides ### 2026-09-09: Enugu Governor Peter Mbah unveils 10,000 administration milestones Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah unveiled a compendium of over 10,000 administration milestones, including road construction, healthcare centers, and the New Enugu Smart City project. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/enugu-governor-peter-mbah-unveils-10000-administration-milestones --- Cite as: Enugu State administration developments.
