Environmental cleanup efforts have been conducted across various regions in Greece. The Cyclone Project, an initiative by the Athanasios K. Laskaris Charitable Foundation, completed a large-scale program covering over 753 locations in the Argolis, Messenia, and Phocis prefectures. This operation included the removal of millions of pieces of debris and over 1.6 million kilograms of waste from road networks, rivers, lakes, and 62 archaeological sites, involving students, soldiers, and volunteers.

In a separate operation on Mount Olympus, the organization Ecogenia and the Christos Kakalos Mountaineering Refuge removed 650 kilograms of waste from a remote area near the “Throne of Zeus.” The cleanup uncovered historical items, such as olive oil cans from the 1970s and soda cans from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Officials noted that the site had become a “small landfill” due to extreme alpine conditions slowing decomposition and a lack of environmental awareness in previous decades.
