Erykah Badu and producer The Alchemist have collaborated on a musical project titled ‘Before the World Blows’. 

Initially, the album was scheduled for an August 2025 release following a June tour, but the release was indefinitely postponed one day before the original date. Badu stated that although the work was complete, she felt it was not yet ready for public consumption.

Following this delay, the duo announced the 16-track project, titled ‘Before The World Blows: The Abi and Alan Experiment’, with a digital release set for August 28, 2026. The album, recorded over 18 months in Dallas and Los Angeles, features guest appearances from artists including Westside Gunn, Steve Lacy, and Thundercat. To preview the work, Badu released and directed a music video for the track ‘Witch Doctor’.
