In mid-September 2026, authorities in Brno, Czech Republic, launched a search for a seven-year-old neutered male serval hybrid that escaped from its owner in the Bystrci district. Search operations involved municipal police, firefighters, and river units using drones to scan the area near the Brno Reservoir. Officials warned the public not to approach the nine-kilogram animal, noting that while the risk of attack is low, it could use its teeth and claws if threatened.

In early October 2026, a similar incident occurred in Orzysz, Poland, where a serval named Gustaw escaped from private property. Local police reported the animal, which is described as having sandy, spotted fur and wearing a red leather harness. Authorities cautioned the public against attempting to capture the animal personally and noted that the exotic predator is not adapted to local weather conditions, making its survival in the wild potentially life-threatening.
