Estonia continued its economic expansion during the second quarter of 2026, recording a 1.8% GDP growth compared to the previous year. This marked the fifth consecutive quarter of growth, driven largely by a 6.5% increase in manufacturing value added, alongside contributions from agriculture, forestry, fishing, and construction.

Accompanying this growth, average gross monthly wages rose by 5.5% to €2,243, while the median salary increased by 6.1% to €1,840. Wage growth was notably strong in the manufacturing and construction sectors, as well as the public sector due to collective agreements in healthcare, education, and public administration. The information and communication sector reported the highest average gross wages at €3,837, while the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector saw a significant 19.6% year-on-year increase.

Despite these gains, certain sectors faced challenges. Real estate value added decreased by 3.6%, wholesale and retail trade fell by 3.2%, and the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning saw a 9.6% decline in supply. While the upward trend is evident, economists maintain that “low investment levels remain a long-term concern.”
