A permanent wound) to commemorate the twelve Civil Guard officers killed by ETA in a 1986 car bomb attack at Madrid’s Plaza de la República Dominicana. Organized by the Elche City Council, the Valencian Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Participation, and the Foundation of Victims of Terrorism, the exhibition utilizes photographs, historical documents, personal objects, and testimonies. The initiative seeks to recover the individual stories of the deceased—including two victims from the Valencian Community, Miguel Ángel Cornejo Ros and Santiago Iglesias Godino—while illustrating the impact of terrorism on families and survivors. Local officials, including Mayor Pablo Ruz, have emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and passing the consequences of terrorism to new generations. The exhibition is free to the public and is scheduled to run until mid-November 2026. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-18: Elche hosts exhibition honoring Civil Guard victims of 1986 ETA attack An exhibition in Elche honors the twelve Civil Guard officers killed by ETA in a 1986 Madrid bombing, aiming to preserve the memory of the victims and uphold democratic values. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/elche-hosts-exhibition-honoring-civil-guard-victims-of-1986-eta-attack ### 2026-10-14: Elche hosts exhibition honoring ETA victims An exhibition in Elche commemorates the twelve Civil Guard officers killed by an ETA car bomb in Madrid in 1986, featuring personal artifacts and historical documents. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/elche-hosts-exhibition-honoring-eta-victims --- Cite as: ETA attack victims exhibition in Elche.
