Cuba’s state-run telecommunications monopoly, Etecsa, has initiated efforts to promote digital transformation and remote service management. In the Granma province, the company hosted a digital fair to encourage the use of online applications for managing payments and mobile services to reduce physical queues.

Despite these initiatives, connectivity remains hindered by Cuba’s electrical crisis. Etecsa has noted that backup batteries cannot sustain the network for more than 24 hours without grid power, leaving a significant portion of mobile base stations and cabinets vulnerable to outages.

Expanding its digital services, Etecsa launched a new corporate portal aimed at both state-owned and non-state enterprises. This platform allows businesses to manage mobile telephony tasks remotely and 24/7, including subscriber activation, SIM card changes, and data plan modifications, through a centralized control dashboard.
