The Etna DOC wine region has experienced substantial growth over a thirteen-year period. Data from the Istituto Regionale del Vino e dell’Olio (IRVO) Observatory indicates that between 2012 and 2025, wine certifications in the region increased by 711%, rising from 79 to 641. During this same timeframe, the volume of certified wine grew by 390% to over 46,000 hectoliters, while the number of viticulturists more than doubled to 509.

To mark this expansion and the start of the harvest, the town of Randazzo scheduled the ‘Radici Vulcaniche’ festival for late August. The event, featuring 28 wineries, focuses on Carricante and Nerello Mascalese grapes to promote enotourism and discuss the international commercial prospects of Etna wines.
