Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez has expressed interest in relocating from Los Angeles to Madrid, Spain. In an interview with ‘La Script’, Derbez indicated that his perception of the ‘American dream’ has changed, stating, “I came to explore Madrid because I don’t like that world as much as I imagined. Perhaps I idealized it too much.”

Derbez noted that he has already “fulfilled the American dream” after 12 years in California. He cited the career models of Antonio Banderas and Javier Bardem as inspiration for maintaining international success while staying connected to his cultural roots.

In addition to discussing his potential move, Derbez has addressed political issues in Los Angeles, specifically warning that the Latino community in the United States is facing voter intimidation. During a press conference on October 15, he urged Hispanic citizens to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming November 3 elections. He questioned why certain sectors would attempt to discourage participation if the Latino vote were not influential, emphasizing the importance of using the vote as a tool for power.

Derbez also used the event to endorse Democratic candidate Xavier Becerra for the governorship of California, stating that Becerra understands the specific challenges faced by the Hispanic community. Recent polling from the University of California, Berkeley, indicates Becerra holds a 58 percent preference rate, compared to 37 percent for Republican candidate Steve Hilton.
