Mauro Coronel, an 18-year-old defender for Club Nacional, has drawn significant interest from European football clubs. Initially, Nacional president Enrique Sánchez noted that while no official written offers had been received, teams such as Brighton had made inquiries regarding the player’s maturity and performance.

Interest has since intensified, with Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly competing for his signature. Interest has also been noted from clubs in Spain’s La Liga. Although Coronel’s contract is set to expire in December, Nacional intends to retain the Paraguay U-20 international for the remainder of the domestic season to support his development. His agent, Renato Bittar, has confirmed that European interest in the defender is long-standing.
