Czech rail operator RegioJet has submitted applications to the Polish Office of Rail Transport (UTK) to launch four new international connections starting December 12, 2027. These daily services are intended to run for a five-year period, concluding on December 11, 2032.

The proposed routes include Katowice to Rijeka in Croatia, Warsaw to Prague, and Przemyśl to Vienna. A primary highlight is a connection from Warsaw to Sankt Anton am Arlberg in the Austrian Alps. This route is expected to take approximately 16 hours and 25 minutes, passing through Katowice, Ostrava, Vienna, and Salzburg, with access to ski resorts such as Zell am See and Kitzbühel. This service is intended to serve as an affordable alternative to seasonal ski charters.

The Katowice to Rijeka line aims to provide year-round service to the Adriatic, potentially competing with seasonal offerings like PKP Intercity’s Adriatic Express. To operate these services, RegioJet intends to use 12-car locomotive-hauled sets utilizing Alstom Traxx or Siemens Vectron locomotives, utilizing key transit points such as Bogumin and Ostrava.
