Muro Lucano is hosting various regional events in September 2026. The town began with religious celebrations on September 2 to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of San Gerardo Maiella, the patron saint of Basilicata. These ceremonies included a mass and the ritual of the Ring of San Gerardo, where twelve mayors from the region received a ring symbolizing unity and fraternity.

Following these religious observances, the town moved into its motorsport programming. On September 20, the 14th edition of the ‘Città di Muro Lucano- Trofeo San Gennaro Maiella’ slalom race took place on the former SS 7 Appia provincial road. Organized by Basilicata Motorsport, the event featured 88 participants competing for the ACI Sport 4th Zone Cup and the 23rd Interregional CPB Challenge.

Notable competitors in the race included Carmelo Coviello, who sought a third consecutive victory, and former Italian slalom champion Saverio Miglionico, alongside Domenico Palumbo and Maurizio Pepe.
