In 2026, educational examination results in Cameroon and Madagascar showed varying trends. In Cameroon, the Higher Institute of Professional Education (BTS) experienced a sharp decline in success, with the national pass rate dropping to 14.19% from 40.48% in 2025.

In Madagascar, results were mixed by region. The Mahajanga province reported a baccalauréat pass rate of 47.92%, a decrease from the 59.77% recorded in 2025. However, in the Antananarivo province, the success rate rose to 51.74% compared to 47.49% the previous year. This increase in Antananarivo followed a decision by the jury to lower the admission threshold from 10 out of 20 to 9.75 out of 20, a move resulting from debates between university professors and high school teachers.

Across several Madagascar regions, technical and professional education tracks consistently outperformed general education series.
