Various technology companies are expanding the utility of AI assistants through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which serves as an orchestration layer to connect third-party AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot with external services.

Templafy introduced Document Agents as native connectors, allowing users to transform AI-generated content into formatted business documents that adhere to enterprise branding, compliance, and data requirements.

Following this, DeepL and Liner launched their own MCP-based solutions. DeepL released ‘DeepL MCP’ to enable direct translation services within AI assistants while preserving document formatting and enterprise glossaries. Liner introduced ‘Liner Actions MCP,’ a tool designed to connect AI agents to over 1,100 external applications, such as Slack and Notion, via natural language commands to automate complex configurations.

Anthropic has further expanded these capabilities through Claude connectors. Built on the MCP open standard, these connectors allow Claude to interact with external applications like Gmail, Slack, Notion, and HubSpot by reading data and performing actions. Users can access these via a directory or by adding custom MCP servers through a URL.

Integrations frequently include Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. For example, the Google Drive connector allows Claude to search and read various file types, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs, and Office files, and can perform supported file changes. Access is restricted to the permissions already granted to the user’s own account, ensuring the AI cannot reach files or records the user cannot access. Users can manage these connections across Claude, Claude Desktop, and mobile apps, with the ability to toggle specific services on or off for individual chats.
